Yesterday I stopped by one of my favorite greenhouses in the city, Weber's Greenhouse, 4215 N. Green Bay Ave., for its grand opening.
Weber's opened in 1931 and was family-owned for many decades.
In the spring of 2018, Teens Grow Greens (TGG) Inc. purchased the property and it is now run by students of the TGG program that provides paid internships for Milwaukee teens. In the TGG program, teens raise plants, flowers, vegetables and herbs and learn valuable skills so they can become purposeful leaders in their own lives, the lives of others and the life of their environment.
Kaya Schwarz and Abdull Musa are graduates of the TGG program and are working at Weber's. "This (experience) has sparked a lot of interest for me," says Schwarz.
