You don't have to ask us twice to snoop behind the scenes of a major Broadway production. "Wicked" will play from Wednesday, July 30, to Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Marcus Performing Arts Center's Uihlein Hall.
This morning, we witnessed a bit of what it takes to make the magic happen on stage under a tight deadline. Eleven trucks arrived at the Marcus Center yesterday around 11 a.m. and will be finished with time to spare before the debut performance on Wednesday night.
This version of the show has been on tour non-stop for 16 years, with a break for Covid. The company performs eight shows a week; 52 weeks a year. This cast is different from the last time the tour stopped in Milwaukee, but Steve Quinn, Company Manager of Wicked, promises it has the same energy and awe factor.
"It's great to bring Broadway to Milwaukee. You don't have to deal with New York theaters or New York prices. Just come to Downtown Milwaukee, have a nice meal somewhere and enjoy a fantastic show," says Quinn.
