Restaurants are the heart and soul of our communities. They offer us places to gather and socialize. They provide congenial locations to celebrate milestones and welcoming places of respite and comfort when we are stressed or grieving. They nourish us with food and drink. They advance the efforts of our thriving tourism industry. They also contribute generously to charitable organizations and worthy causes through the donation of time, energy and food.

That’s why OnMilwaukee, in collaboration with Pick ‘n Save and Metro Market and WWBIC (Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation), are pleased to announce the release of “The Wisconsin Restaurant Cookbook,” a collection of recipes (and mouthwatering photos) from over 40 of the state’s best restaurants.

Starting today, the cookbook is available at all Pick 'n Save and Metro Market locations throughout the state for just $9.99.

Inside its pages, you’ll find recipes like wild Alaskan halibut with garlic brown butter crust from Chef Kelly Qualley of Hinterland in Green Bay; potato pierogi with chive sour cream from Blair Herridge of Fool’s Errand in Milwaukee; housemade dandan noodles from Taigu in Madison; pasta alla carbonara from Chef Juan Urbieta of Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993; and a white chocolate miso tart from Chef Timothy Jordan of The Norbert in West Bend

Make a difference

Even better, thanks to the generosity of advertising sponsors, all proceeds from the cookbook will be used to fund grants for Wisconsin restaurants, as they continue to rebuild following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Individuals can also donate additional funds directly to the grant fund online (or contribute a donation at the check-out of any Pick 'n Save or Metro Market store). The goal is to raise at least $100,000 to offer as grants to restaurants in need.

That means your cookbook purchase (or generous donation) will contribute not only to the vital economic recovery of restaurants, but also to the hopeful return of the thriving dining culture that makes Wisconsin an unbeatable place to live, work and eat.
