Yesterday, Yo Mama! announced on Facebook that it will close its Shorewood location at 4521 N. Oakland Ave., which opened in 2012.

"In order to fulfill our vision and allow Yo Mama! to continue to grow and thrive, a tough decision had to be made," read the post. "The lease for our Shorewood location is expiring, and we’ve decided to not renew our lease ... We are sad to be leaving Shorewood, and would like to thank all of our dedicated customers who made it a special place."

The last day of operation for the location will be Jan. 31. Yo Mama! has also indicated that all gift cards purchased in Shorewood can be redeemed at its Brookfield and Wauwatosa locations.

Yo Mama! has indicated that it will focus its energy on the introduction of its "Scratch Scoop Shop" premium ice cream, which will be available in flavors like milk & cookies, vanilla bean cookie dough and salted caramel waffle cone. The new ice cream will be added to offerings at both the Wauwatosa and Brookfield locations.
