Milwaukee is and always has been a bar town. Today, the scene is a delightful mix of cutting-edge lounges with all the big city feels to mom-and-pop taverns serving tap beers and pickled eggs.

But this week, my OnMilwaukee colleagues and I waxed nostalgic and made a list of shuttered Milwaukee bars, taverns, lounges, clubs and pubs. There are, of course, many more than those on this list – which is ranked in no particular order.

But raise a glass with us to these watering holes of yesteryear and enjoy the flood of memories that some of these forgotten spots might trigger. Or maybe we should be apologizing ahead of time for that. In any case, how many of these have you been to?
