Those looking forward to the big Aaron Rodgers versus Patrick Mahomes showdown this Sunday will unfortunately have to keep waiting as reports came in Wednesday that the Packers quarterback has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be sidelined for the weekend's big Packers-Chiefs game.

Jordan Love is expected to start in place of Rodgers for Sunday's game in Kansas City.

Due to the league and players association's COVID-19 protocols, the soonest Rodgers – who, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafalo, is unvaccinated – can return to the field is Saturday, Nov. 13.

When previously asked about his vaccination status and stance about the COVID-19 vaccines, Rodgers stated before the season in August that, "I've been immunized." According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, Rodgers underwent an alternative treatment to prevent COVID that he petitioned the NFL to consider the same as a vaccination – but the league rejected.

(It is possible for vaccinated people to still contract COVID-19 – but it is far less likely and comes with a significantly lower risk of severe symptoms that can lead to hospitalization and death. For more facts and information on the vaccines, click here.)

Green Bay has been in the midst of a COVID-19 breakout amongst the offense recently. Last week Thursday, the team had to play against the Arizona Cardinals without both wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard due to COVID protocols, winning on the road, 24-21, despite their absence. Now they'll have to once again win on the road without one of their most important players due to COVID.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
