There’s still plenty of summer left and PufferFish, the rooftop bar located on the sixth floor of Hotel Metro, 411 E. Mason St., is making it count.
On Thursday, Sept. 7 from 5 p.m. to midnight, they will be hosting the founders of the award-winning Amor Y Amargo for a bar takeover sponsored by Misguided Spirits.
Hailing from New York City, Amor Y Amargo (Love & Bitters in Spanish) is among the most recognized bars in the world, offering a bitters-focused menu with an emphasis on stirred drinks and neat pours since 2011.
During the event, Amor Y Amargo’s Sother Teague and Bruce Shultz will be stirring up original creations inside the main bar, while the PufferFish team will be shaking up libations on the patio. Even better, all bartender tips from the evening will be donated to Another Round Another Rally, a disaster relief fund for hospitality workers in Maui.
The event will also serve as the official launch party for Misguided Spirits, a pioneer in the employee-owned spirits industry, that recently made the decision to relocate its brand from New York to Milwaukee.
"We are super excited to set up our base camp here in Milwaukee,” noted Misguided Spirits Founder James Zinkand "It's the perfect fit for our brand."
But that’s not all. Pabst Blue Ribbon be on-site offering beer with Misguided Whiskey shots and German-based bitters purveyor Underberg will be sampling onsite and promoting Misguided Spirits’ global bartender competition which gives talented mixologists the opportunity to create Oktoberfest cocktails for a chance to win a trip to Germany.
"To have one of our favorite global bars come into our market is huge for Milwaukee," noted PufferFish founder JC Cunningham in a release about the takeover. "Amor Y Amargo is our first stop every time we are in New York, so to host them at our bar is a dream come true."
