Snuggle up with some holiday cheer as OnMilwaukee shares stories of everything merry and bright in the spirit of the season.

With the holiday season in full swing, it’s time once again to drink and dine across the galaxy from the deserts of Tatooine to the forests of Kashyyyk.

That’s because Bar Far Far Away has returned to the well appointed outdoor patio at Hotel Madrid, 600 S. 6th St., complete with Wookies, Ewoks, Jedi, Sith and Jabba the Hut. But this year, the Star Wars themed pop-up presents a new challenge for guests, who will need to roll the chance cube to determine if they end up on the light or dark side of the Force.

During the latest installment of Bar Far Far Away, Hotel Madrid has rolled out seven themed lounge style rooms (Corscant, Endor, Hoth,  Kashyyyk, Mustafar, Naboo and Tatooine), each of which seats up to 10 guests for 90-minute reservations.

All bookings include the opportunity to enjoy featured cocktails, out of this world food and plenty of photo ops thanks to posters and tapestries created by talented artists across the country. And yes, costumes are encouraged.

In fact, you might want to make the effort to visit a few planets over the holiday season. Your efforts will pay off, thanks to Far Far Away Passports. Each visit earns you a stamp. Four visits gets you a $25 gift card. Seven visits earns you a $100 card, which you can use to buy all the street noodles you can eat in January.

‘Use the Fork, Luke”

Your journey through hyperspace includes a bevvy of delicious dishes, from classic Tattooine tapas like Croquetas de Jedi (filled with Serrano ham, bechemel, lemon aioli and chives, $6.30) and Jabba the Empanada (carrot, caramelized onion, cumin, roasted tomato and lemon aioli, $7.30) to Greedo Burrito Bites filled with paella rice, chicken chorizo, queso, and avocado lime crema ($14.40).

And that’s not all. You can power up with Yoda Green Curry Noodles or Jawa Street Noodles ($15.90), plus four exciting episodes of paella from Revenge of the Chef (serves up to four for $45.50) to A New Movida (serves up to two for $16.60).

Even better, you can wash it all down with something delicious (and cute) like the Don’t Be Afraid, a margarita riff served up in a baby Yoda tiki mug. Or something a bit more ominous like the At Last We Will Have Revenge, a low-proof option featuring Lacuesta Rojo, orange dram, seltzer and a Red Vine Lightsaber in a Darth Maul glass ($15).

Of course, if you’re the “go big or go home” type, you can practically dive into the Bring Me Solo and the Wookie, a supersized old fashioned served in an equally supersized Jabba the Hut mug with a little extra on the side ($50, enough for four to share).

And yes, there’s dessert. Group sized platters of Wookie cookies, and Storm-churros come complete with a keepsake themed plate of the week ($18-$24). You can peruse the entire menu online.

“This is the way”

Bar Far Far Away opens at 5 p.m. seven days a week (until 11 p.m. on weekends). Reservations for 90-minute experiences are available for groups up to 10 guests. And yes, you can even bring your little Yodas to the party. On Sundays, they’ll get $5 hot chocolate, plus a free Wookie cookie and Storm churros. Peek at the other daily specials online.

During your stay, you’ll get your very own themed enclosed patio room equipped with lounge-style seating and heaters to keep you warm. Keep in mind that the temperature can still feel brisk, so jackets are recommended, just in case.

Bookings are $10 per person and reservations can be made online. Each reservation includes a little welcome warm-up package and some “Imperial credits” which can be used at the bar’s Star Wars themed arcade games and merchandise machines after departing from your planet.

Guests can also purchase mugs and other merch (like Boba Fett or Baby Yoga sangria sets) online to keep or give as gifts. The Far Far Away swag shop accepts both credit cards and crypto currency.
