Move over, La Merenda, there's a new titan of tapas in Milwaukee, as readers chose Movida for best small plates in 2015. The Walker's Point-based Spanish restaurant turned out the vote and took the category's crown from its neighborhood compatriot and rival, which won last year.
With aquatic shareables such as shrimp with peppers and herbs and duck eggs with potato and chorizo, plus terrestrial delicacies like suckling pig empanadillas with medjool date and goat cheese, 1-year-old Movida has made a dramatic, creative entrance onto the city's small-plates scene – and patrons have clearly responded.
