The Brass Alley, a New Orleans-inspired restaurant at 1023 N. Old World 3rd St., will open its doors to the public on Friday, Oct. 2.

The restaurant, which aims to showcase a blend of traditional New Orleans fare along with local Wisconsin favorites in a fun, Big Easy-esque environment, will feature dishes created by executive chef Jeff Beale. It is located in the space formerly occupied by The Irish Rec Room.

Appetizers will include items like andouille corn pops with creole mustard, jalapeno ketchup and remoulade ($9), grilled oysters with bacon, lemon and garlic butter ($12) and fried alligator with pepperoncini, cherry peppers and garlic butter ($11).

Featured sandwiches will include a variety of po’boys, including one with grilled andouille sausage, Abita glazed onions and creole mustard ($10), muffaletta with prosciutto, ham, capicola, provolone, roasted red peppers and olive salad ($10) and a Big Easy burger with pimento cheese, corn relish and bacon ($11).

Entrees will include red beans and rice with smoked turkey and grilled andouille sausage ($13), jambalaya with choice of shrimp, chicken or seared scallops ($12-16), blackened or fried catfish with mustard greens, black-eyed peas, bacon-brown butter vingarette and grilled lemon ($13), and Bourbon Street marinated skirt steak with gypsy sauce and fries ($16).

Beverages will include beer and wine along with eight varieties of frozen cocktails, along with creative takes on the hurricane, sazerac, French 75 and other classic cocktails.

Beale will also handle menu creation for Evolution Milwaukee, the former Third Ward ping pong themed entertainment venue, which has moved into the second and third floors of the same building. Evolution will also open to the public on Friday, sporting a new menu enhanced with sandwiches, salads, pizzas and small bites like truffle butter popcorn ($4.50) and pretzel balls ($6.50). Updated programming will include "Cosmic Pong," a black light and glow in the dark table tennis party available at the venue after 10 p.m.

Both The Brass Alley and Evolution Milwaukee will be open daily. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
