This weekend, the Milwaukee Public Market, 400 N. Water St., welcomes Chef Ed Jackson, author of "The American Lighthouse Cookbook: The Best Stories and Recipes from America's Shorelines" to teach a little about food and landscape.
His book features culinary flavors from eight geographic locations under the backdrop of 47 lighthouses throughout the country, including Door County's Eagle Bluff. Each lighthouse feature is followed by a locally focused five or six course meal paired for a modern lighthouse meal.
Jackson's appearance, Saturday, Sept, 19., in the Madame Kuony Kitchen in the Milwaukee Public Market includes a cooking demonstration from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. followed by a book signing. The kitchen demo reveals the techniques behind Chef Jackson's Vegetarian Summer Rolls, Cedar Planked Salmon and Wisconsin inspired Wisconsin Beer and Cheese Soup.
The cost is $29.00; reservations are required and can be made by calling 414-336-1111. "The American Lighthouse Cookbook: The Best Stories and Recipes from America's Shorelines" will be available for purchase the day of the event.
