This series brought to you in partnership with Wisconsin State Fair. When you’re in need of racing pigs and Cream Puffs, there’s only one place to go. See you at the Wisconsin State Fair, presented by UScellular, July 31-August 10.

In this new series, we'll experience an afternoon or evening of Wisconsin State Fair fun on a $20 budget.

Wisconsin State Fair makes stretching dollars as easy as coasting down the Giant Slide. So the Cream City Carousing challenge of finding food and drink for under $20 was not a challenge in the least. If anything, we had so many options we couldn't make a decision. Until we did.

We went with classic Fair foods and spent less than $20 per meal, including tip for the fine Fair workers. Here's what we picked:

The world's most perfect food: fried cheese on a stick.

1. Fried cheese on a stick and icy lemonade
Various stands on the Fair grounds
Total cost $13

This affordable combo hits all the tastes and textures: sweet, cold, bready, cheesy and bonus: ON A STICK.

2. Baked potato and beer
Wisconsin Products Pavilion
Total cost: $16

This meal's superpower is that it's extremely filling. We highly rec going with the "works" for the toppings – cheese, butter, bacon and salsa – because it's the best bang for the buck, and also because the staff all says "woooooo!" when someone orders a potato with the works.
