There are a ton of choices when it comes to food and drink at Summerfest, so we're narrowing it down for you. We looked for meal options that were unique, filling and included both food and drink.

This week, we were extremely pleased with the plate of food we purchased from Nino's Southern Sides. Nino's is a Shorewood-based business and their food transfers well to a festival setting like Summerfest. Plus, they have patio seating.

Here's how we kept our spending at $20 and felt completely satisfied.

Spend zero dollars at the gate

Every day, there is a way to get into free at Summerfest. And it does not include jumping any gates or swimming in. Here's the full list of the promotions

Drink during Happy Hour

Summerfest and Molson Coors paired up this year to host a daily Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. During this time, select Molson Coors products are $6. To read about more ways to save on beer, go here. We, however, picked lemonade from Nino's as our beverage of choice.

Drink, eat and carouse

For $11, get wings, fried/smothered chicken, fried/smothered pork chop or a fried catfish with a choice of a side. For $18, get two sides and a drink. This was our choice, and still left $2 for a tip.

Sides include collard greens, mac and cheese, coleslaw, fries or dressing. We got the pork chop with collard greens and the mac and the hearty comfort food hit the spot.
