Are your tastebuds craving a new experience?

At least two vendors at the 3rd Street Market Hall, 275 W. Wisconsin Ave., are shaking things up in celebration of April Fool’s Day, and their unique creations are sure to bring a bit of intrigue to your Saturday.

A daring doughnut

First up, Supernova Coffee + Doughnuts will be bringing a little fire to the food hall with a limited edition April Fools Day savory doughnut.

“I’ve always wanted to make a doughnut that incorporates Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and this seemed like a great time to do it,” says Supernova co-owner Sara Lewkowski, who says they tested out a number of versions to see what worked best.

“Last week we taste-tested out a variety of versions, both sweet and savory,” she says. “Some were alright. A few were pretty bad. But this one turned out great.”

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, guests can order up Supernova’s Flamin’ Hot Cheeto doughnut, which features a yeast raised doughnut topped with whipped jalapeno cream cheese, crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and a drizzle of nacho cheese ($5).

Lewkowski says she’s planning to make about 100 of the unique doughnuts, so fans should plan on getting theirs early in the day before they run out.

Clever custard

But the spicy Supernova doughnut isn’t the only over-the-top creation you can sample at the food hall.

Dairyland Old Fashioned Frozen Custard & Hamburgers will also be rolling out a brand new custard flavor designed especially for the day of tom foolery: French Onion Dip custard.

The frozen custard creation takes all of its cues from the nostalgic (and delicious) party staple. The sweet and savory frozen dessert will feature housemade French onion custard base studded with potato chips and a housemade caramelized onion ripple.

Both the doughnut and custard will be available in limited quantities, so head down to the food hall early in the day to ensure you can get yours.

Supernova Coffee and Doughnuts will be open on Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Dairyland will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
