Most Wisconsinites have our favorite fish fry spot, but trying a new place usually leads to deep fried fun. It's also Lent, which means fish fry season is in full swing, so consider one of these tasty places between now and April 11.

1. Pat's Niche Grub & Pub
3956 S. Howell Ave., (414) 539-6452

We went for the chicken fry, and returned for the fish fry. At Pat's, you can get a plate of beer-battered pollock for $10.95 or all-you-can-eat for $13.95. There's also a perch fry, catfish fry, shrimp fry and fish sandwich on the Friday menu. All dinners come with Cole slaw, bread and French fries or potato pancakes.

2. Cafe El Sol
1028 S. 9th St., (414) 384-3100

Cafe El Sol offers a delicious blend of cultures at one buffet. For $14 sample a variety of Mexican and Puerto Rican dishes that compliment the restaurant's celebrated fish fry. There's also live Latin music starting at 6 p.m.

3. The Tandem
1848 W. Fond Du Lac Ave., (414) 885-1919

Tandem's catfish fry comes with house made Cole slaw and tartar sauce, rye bread and crinkle french fries. The price is right at $14 and is available regular or as a gluten-free version.
