The fish fry at Lakefront Brewery had a little something extra Friday night.
Along with the fish, potato pancakes, polka band, coleslaw and beer we had a rumble with Tom Barrett and Tammy Baldwin and an arrest.
Barrett and Baldwin weren't really in the rumble, which I saw from start to finish.
It started when a little guy (why is it always the little guys who start this kind of crap?) got up into Baldwin's face. Barrett was taking her around to shake hands a couple of days before the election.
The little guy hollered some pretty nasty stuff at her and one of her aides stepped in to cool things down. The little guy pushed the aide, and we were off and running.
The mayor's bodyguard, a cop who I've know for a while, stepped up to protect his boss and calm things down. The little guy, showing he has no more brains than your average drunk, wanted a piece of the cop. Kind of like trying to pick a fight with Mike Tyson.
The bodyguard got Baldwin and the mayor out of the place without further incident. The little guy and his buddy, who was egging him on, stood wobbly at the bar.
And then the uniforms showed up. They quietly put the handcuffs on the little guy and escorted him to a great Friday night in jail. His friend, seeing what looked like a bad scene, hurried away.
The cops came back looking for the friend, but eventually left. I will say that it was moderately exciting. I didn't get any licks in, although I was about to try. And the mayor's bodyguard, who shall go nameless, proved once again that Milwaukee cops really know their stuff.
With a history in Milwaukee stretching back decades, Dave tries to bring a unique perspective to his writing, whether it's sports, politics, theater or any other issue.

He's a happy man, now that he's quit playing golf, and enjoys music, his children and grandchildren and the myriad of sports in this state. He loves great food and hates bullies and people who think they are smarter than everyone else.
This whole Internet thing continues to baffle him, but he's willing to play the game as long as OnMilwaukee.com keeps lending him a helping hand. He is constantly amazed that just a few dedicated people can provide so much news and information to a hungry public.
Despite some opinions to the contrary, Dave likes most stuff. But he is a skeptic who constantly wonders about the world around him. So many questions, so few answers.
