Know a girl who dreams of flying? Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport will host the 9th annual "Girls in Aviation" Day event on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event is free for girls ages 12-18 and includes lunch, but registration is required by Saturday, Sept. 9. The event is limited to 100 girls. To reserve a spot go here

The annual event is sponsored by the Women in Aviation Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter and gives young girls a look into aviation and aerospace careers with hands-on activities, behind-the-scenes tours and a chance to meet with aviation professionals. The girls will have the opportunity to view and tour various aircraft owned by local Milwaukee companies and to test their pilot skills using flight simulators.

“We’re honored to again host this incredible event for girls from across southeastern Wisconsin,” said Airport Director Brian Dranzik. “Events like this help introduce students to the wide variety of opportunities within the world of aviation; they may leave considering a future career they never knew existed. We’re proud to help inspire the next generation of women in aviation.”
