As a lifelong Bucks fan, what happened on Tuesday night was completely unfathomable a few years ago.

The Bucks – a franchise that typically didn’t even sell out their playoff games in the 2010s – nevertheless had 65,000 people standing in a crowd outside of the arena to watch the game and 17,000 people inside who paid a minimum of $1,000 (the price of a standing room only ticket). It was a special moment in an era where the NBA has been dominated by big market teams and star player mobility. To see a team led by Giannis – who was once a street vendor in Greece, and as a rookie who once ran to the Bradley Center for a game because he didn’t have enough money for a cab after sending money back to his family – and Middleton, who got his start in the G League, along with the rest of a very likable cast of characters bring the Larry O’Brien Trophy to Milwaukee for the first time in over 50 years is an incredible story.

The icing on the cake was getting to see Milwaukee, a city that has gotten ripped (rightfully so) in the past for being one of the most segregated cities in the U.S., all come together and get behind a franchise that has wallowed in mediocrity for most of the last three decades. The national spotlight made Downtown Milwaukee look like the amazing place it is.

We don’t have a new episode of the GoGedders this week, but we wanted to look back on the several episodes we’ve done with members of the Bucks organization since we started the show in 2016.

A big thank you to the Bucks organization for creating a winning team, getting involved in the community and really helping develop the city since buying the team. My mind is still blown by the new ownership and what the team has been able to accomplish in the last six years.
