Snuggle up with some holiday cheer as OnMilwaukee shares stories of everything merry and bright in the spirit of the season.

The holiday season is a time to do good. And that’s exactly what 15+ bakers and chefs aim to do through the Fifth Annual Holy Serpent Bake Sale, which has raised over $15,000 for worthy charitable organizations since its inception in 2019.
This year's bake sale will have two components:
- An opportunity to pre-order treats (now) from participating bakers for pick-up on Dec. 20
- An in-person bake sale and holiday event at Muza Church, 2114 9th Ave. in South Milwaukee on Dec. 20
Pre-order holiday treats
Pre-orders for the bake sale can be placed now through Dec. 18 online through CashDrop All orders will be available for pick-up on Dec. 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Holy Serpent holiday event at Muza Church, 2114 9th Ave.
This year's treats include selections like French macarons; Italian cookies; sugar cookies; shortbread; rock candy; milk bread buns with quince cream cheese and candied rosemary; dark chocolate tarts; Polish fruit cake and pear parmesan panettone.
All proceeds from this year's bake sale will go to support Too Young To Wed, a nonprofit organization whose work supports a world where every girl can decide for herself, if, when and whom to marry.

Clover Distribution is sponsoring bakers by providing specialty dried goods and spices for this year's bake sale.
Holy Serpent holiday event
The public is also invited to attend the Holy Serpent holiday event on Dec. 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Muza Church, 2114 9th Ave.
The gathering is a holiday celebration that aims to bring together a community of like-minded individuals for fellowship and networking.
This year's event will feature food and drinks (priced with suggested donations), music from DJ Katie Rose of Goodkind, plus a variety of vendors, including local artists like Kate Riley of Plate Collective and MIAD student Chloe Mae. Bakers will also be selling goods that won't be available during the online pre-order bake sale. Guests can also participate in a raffle to win products from local artists and area businesses.
Lori is an avid cook whose accrual of condiments and spices is rivaled only by her cookbook collection. Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with each and every dish. She’s had the privilege of chronicling these tales via numerous media, including OnMilwaukee and in her book “Milwaukee Food.” Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
