With studios refusing to pay writers and actors their due and refusing to take career-crippling AI off the table, it'll probably be a while before the twin strikes are done – which means it'll probably be a while until new episodes of "Last Week Tonight" debut. But while the TV show is shut down, its star John Oliver isn't as he'll head to Milwaukee for a night of live laughs at the Miller High Life Theatre on Friday, Sept. 29.
Oliver came up as a stand-up comedian and got his breakthrough as a "Daily Show" correspondent starting more than a decade ago. He truly, however, became a star with his HBO info-tainment late night show "Last Week Tonight." Since the show's 2014 debut, "Last Week Tonight" has humorously discussed – or, to use hackneyed headline parlance, "evicerated" – many political, social and economic hot topics with viral success, in the process winning a pair of Emmys every year since 2016.
The Miller High Life Theatre show will serve as Oliver's first Milwaukee performance in more than a decade.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film.
