Last December, we shared the news that Izumi’s, Milwaukee’s longest-running sushi restaurant, would close its doors at the end of the year and a second location for the Third Ward’s Kanpai Izakaya was on its way.

As of this week, Kanpai 2 has officially opened in the space at 2150 N. Prospect Ave.

The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner, offering the same menu as the restaurant’s Third Ward location. That means plenty of sushi, along with appetizers like stuffed avocados, fried calamari and spicy edamame. There are also entrees like miso-glazed sea bass, and chicken, tofu or sweet potato teriyaki. There are also Korean specialties like bulgogi and bibimbop served in traditional hot stone bowls.

Lunch specials are priced $9.50-$17, including nigiri and sashimi options, sushi burritos and items like bulgogi, bibimbop and bento boxes. View the full menu here.

Kanpai 2 is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 11 p.m.; and Sunday 4 to 9 p.m.
