There’s a new venue specializing in fresh juices, smoothies and healthful snacks moving into Wauwatosa.

Kwench Juice Cafe is slated to open at 8816 W. North Ave. in the former home of TannerFit personal training studio. In fact, owners Erin and Kent McCorkle hope to be able to open their doors sometime in spring of 2023.

While Kwench will be their first venture into the food and beverage space, the McCorkles bring a passion for health and community to the table. Kent has a background in sales and retail, while Erin has worked for years as an emergency room nurse for Froedtert.

“This is definitely a new venture for us,” says Erin McCorkle, who says she’s likely to continue serving in the nursing profession in some capacity. “But we’ve both decided that we’re ready for a change. It’s always been really important to us to serve the community no matter what we do. So, the way we look at it, this is just a very different way of going about it.”

McCorkle says the cafe will feature a menu of organic, all natural juices and juice blends and custom smoothies along with acai and piyata bowls, grab and go items like steel cut oats and energy bites. They also plan to serve cold brew and drip coffee as well as locally made bakery items.

As for the look and feel of the space, McCorkle says they are working with local architect Edward Haydin of Arc-Int Architecture to create a space that feels very open, fresh and clean.

“We’re excited to work with someone who loves Wauwatosa just as much as we do,” she says. “Our goal is to make this a place for everyone… a place where people can stop by before work and families can come with their kids.. We just want to be a really welcoming place for the neighborhood.”

Tentative hours for Kwench Juice Cafe are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
