It was last December when we shared the news that a Kwench Juice Cafe was on its way to 8816 W. North Ave. in Wauwatosa. 

And the timing couldn’t be better to announce that the cafe, which offers a menu of fresh juices, raw smoothies, acai and pitaya bowls, has officially opened its doors after a brief soft opening.

Behind the new juicery are owners Erin and Kent McCorkle, both of whom have a passion for health, wellness and community.  Their passion is the perfect fit for the cafe, which has seen a steady stream of visitors popping by the cheerful orange and green cafe from the nearby community.

“The response has really exceeded our expectations,” notes Eric McCorkle. “We expected it to be a lot more work to get people throught the door. But  the rord seems to be traveling and people have embraced us. It feels really great to kow that what we’re sharing is healthy. And there’s no guilt.” 

McCorkle says that the interior was transformed with the help of Reflective Contracting Services and augmented with tropical themed wallpaper from their neighbors at Steinkellner Decorating Center, bright orange accents and local art by Jordan Acker Anderson.

On the menu

On the menu, guests will find a variety of made to order raw juices straight up or in a wide variety of combinations, including Power Juices like the Peace & Harmonee featuring pineapple, pear, cucumber, spinach, wheatgrass and spirulina, $8.50-$9 (16 ounces) or $10.50-$11 (24 ounces).

Smoothies include the popular Beach Bomb (blueberry, banana, strawberry, kiwi, grapefruit) and Namaste (kale, banana, spinach, lemon, mango and apple), along with selections like the Cacao Fix (avocado, banana, cacao powder, honey and chocolate almond milk) and the fully loaded Beast Mode (banana, kale, spinach, cacao, peanut butter and almond or coconut milk). Smoothies are $8 (16 ounce) or $10 (24 ounce).  Super food add-ins including acai, bee pollen, chia seeds, chlorella, turmeric, goji berries, flax, maca and whey are also available for $1 each.

The menu also features a selection of acai or pitaya bowls ($12.50) from the Badger Bowl with banana, raspberry, blueberry, milk of choice and toppings of granola and berries; to the Cacao Bowl with banana, strawberry, cacao, choice of milk and toppings of shredded coconut, banana and cacao nibs.

Additional offerings include juices and juice shots, steel cut oats, chia pudding and peanut butter energy bites. 

The new juicery is part of an influx of new businesses which have opened in the area including Lion's TailFiddleheads (located just across the street) and Joy Ice Cream Social, which opened last week at 8334 W. North Ave.

“We’re local,” says McCorkle. “This is our neighborhood and we’re so excited to be able to offer this to our community.”

Kwench is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
