Last fall, the City of Milwaukee – with the cooperation of Milwaukee County – began its search for a design for the Lakefront Gateway Plaza, a 1.5 acre property in between the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Summerfest grounds and in front of Discovery World, with the mission to turn the area into a public plaza. The teams have been narrowed down to four, design ideas have been presented and now, the City is looking for citizens' feedback.
On the City of Milwaukee's website, people can look at the four final proposals currently up for debate – from AECOM, GRAEF, James Corner Field Operations and the Office of James Burnett – and then post their comments for an individual design. The feedback will then be taken into consideration when the submissions are officially judged later this summer.
A final design for the Lakefront Gateway Plaza is expected to be selected this fall.
