It may be spooky season right now – but you know what's not too scary? The list of departures bailing from the Big Red Streaming Monolith in November!

Yes, once again thanks to the current streaming landscape that now has movies and TV shows scattered across multiple services, all hogging their own particular IP and popular brands, Netflix doesn't have that much to lose these days. So give thanks this Thanksgiving that the lineup of departures could be far worse.

That being said, though, there's still some notable names getting tossed away like a wilting jack-o'-lantern the day after Halloween – especially if you're an awards season snob as recent Oscar nominees "Loving" (quietly a terrific film), "Arrival" (loudly a terrific film), "Fences" and "Up in the Air" will all played off the Netflix stage in November. You know what's another Oscar-nominated movie you definitely forgot? "Surf's Up!" That's right: The animated surfing penguin movie – you know, the one that's secretly the better of the two animated movies about penguins doing energetic activities they don't normally do in real life. (Take THAT, "Happy Feet!") Watch it for yourself before it leaves next month and see that I'm right!

As for something completely different from Oscar players and penguin surfers, escape the world of spooky season with some laughs with the hit high school comedy "Superbad" as well as the underrated undergrad comedy "Accepted." While you still can, though, as both will graduate from Netflix in November.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
