Netflix is getting into the spooky movie season spirit by doing its best impression of a serial killer and taking an axe to a bunch of poor innocent movies and TV shows.

One of the most notable options they're taking a machete to in October is a Netflix comfort viewing staple: the award-winning "Schitt's Creek," which will disappear like a ghost almost immediately next month. And, as for more nice and pleasant content getting killed off, "The Notebook" will swoon elsewhere at the end of the month, along with funny favorites "Miss Congeniality," "Bridget Jones's Diary," "Friday," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Scary Movie 4."

Speaking of scary movies, the creepy content "Sinister 2" and "Hemlock Grove" will get murdered by the Big Red Streaming Monolith as well. Makes sense; surely no one would want to watch horror movies and series this time of year. Anyways, the latter is a particularly interesting removal for Netflix since the monster mash-up is actually a Netflix Original – one of the streaming service's first. And now it's going to be gone. Huh, that's not foreboding and ominous for the future at all. Welp, 'tis the season I suppose!

Anyways, with no further ado, here are all the TV shows and movies leaving Netflix in October.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
