Another classic Milwaukee festival will shift its focus to next summer as Locust Street Festival, along with the Riverwest Beer Run that starts the event off, have been canceled for 2021.
The 2021 edition – which would've marked the Locust Street Festival's 45th year – was scheduled for Sunday, June 13.
"While the severity of the COVID-19 virus has been reduced in recent months, the festival committee made the decision that it’s again best to cancel this year’s festival, than to risk the health and safety of its attendees, artisans, staff and organizers," wrote the festival's organizers in a release.
Locust Street Festival joins Festa Italiana, Polish Fest, German Fest and PrideFest as major Milwaukee summer festivals that have decided to avoid the 2021 season – with COVID-19 still a looming threat and vaccinations still in progress – and instead focus on returning in full come 2022.
The good news: You can already mark your calendars for next year's Locust Street Festival as its grand return on Sunday, June 12, 2022.
