Old Falls Village has announced that its Depot Beer Garden will reopen for the season on May 21 to kick off a Revolutionary War Weekend with reenactments twice daily on Saturday and Sunday.

That first weekend, it’s open noon-9 on Saturday and noon-6 Sunday. There will be hot dogs, brats, burgers and pizza.

The nonprofit village park with historical buildings has been operating a beer garden for a few years now with war reenactments, a car show, nightly music, food trucks, six rotating taps of local craft beer and other special activities most weekends, according to beer garden committee chair James Cichy.

“We are so much more than your average beer garden,” he says. “Our 17-acre park (is) just off the freeway on Pilgrim and County Line Road. We hope to make this year our best year ever.”

The beer garden is open every Saturday through Oct. 8, when the season ends with an Oktoberfest featuring half-price beers.

“Our usual hours are 3 to 9 every Saturday, unless we have special events, which we have a lot of them,” says Cichy, “when we are open 12 to 9 in the summer. September 3 and after we close at 8 p.m.”

Among the food trucks on tap this year are Tots on the Street, Taco Barrio, El Sazon and others. Beers typically come from Brewfintity, Sprecher, Lakefront, Raised Grain and others, and seltzers are also available.

“We have entertainment with a variety of bands each garden usually starting after 5 p.m.,” adds Cichy. “There is no cover, but there is admission to the special war reenactments.”
