Fire up The Batwing and fly over to The Bradley Symphony Center for a screening of "Batman 1989" enhanced by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra performing the legendary music by composer Danny Elfman.
You might remember the storyline: The Dark Knight of Gotham City (Michael Keaton) begins his war on crime with his first major enemy, Jack Napier (Jack Nicholson), a criminal who becomes a clownishly homicidal villain known as The Joker.
"When you think of superhero movies, words like ‘epic,' ‘thrilling,' 'battle of good and evil' – things like that come to mind. Naturally, when you hear the rising theme in the horns, you hear both the darkness in the Batman character as well as the dramatic rise," says Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra conductor, Ryan Tani. "And Danny Elfman is the master at creating an exciting ride from beginning to end."
When and where is "Batman 1989" featuring the MSO?
The performances are Friday, Sept.19, and Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. The Bradley Symphony Center is located at 212 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Ninety minutes before both shows, full meals, bites and beverages will be available in various locations throughout the Bradley Symphony Center.
"Going to a movie in a theater is already rare enough these days. You can get movies at the click of a remote at home. But being a part of the action and seeing the film on a big screen – in the midst of a huge audience, in our amazing concert hall, with the score in the foreground with a live orchestra? That’s just something you simply can’t get at home," says Tani.
