South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center (SMPAC) will sponsor a live series called “Music at the Market” in downtown South Milwaukee on Thursday nights this summer, starting June 2.

The music stage is next to “Da Crusher” statue and concerts will generally take place between 5 and 7 p.m.

Artists will include Ivy Ford, a blues artist from Chicago; De La Buena, a 12 piece Afro-Caribbean & Latin Jazz group popular throughout the Milwaukee area; and Tweed, featuring Gervis Myles who has toured Europe as well as most of the Midwest.

The Arts Center partnered with the South Milwaukee Downtown Market and other performing arts-minded groups to offer these free outdoor concerts.

The market is open to the public prior to the concerts on Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and is located at the corner of Milwaukee and 11th Avenues in downtown South Milwaukee.

The market features an eclectic mix of merchants selling fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, flowers, art, jewelry and more.

“We’re proud to support the musicians who perform at Music at the Market in order for attendees to enjoy live music, shop and come together as a community,” says SMPAC Executive Director, Rachel Sorce.
