This July, Netflix is getting into the Independence Day spirit by really putting the red into the red, white and blue – and not just because red is the company's signature color. No, it's because, according to its latest monthly announcement of departures, July is going to be a bloodbath.

The "Matrix" trilogy? Gone. "The Mummy" and its admittedly much lesser sequels? Gone. "Dumb and Dumber"? Dead. "Wedding Crashers"? Crushed. "Boondock Saints"? Say your prayers. Retro classics like "Doctor Zhivago," "Cool Hand Luke," "East of Eden," "The Wild Bunch" and "The Terminator"? History. You want movies made past 1980? Welp, then YOU WANT A DIFFERENT STREAMING SERVICE. (Or, I don't know, just wait to see what they're hopefully replacing them with; Netflix's history, however, isn't encouraging.) Award winners like "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Silence of the Lambs"? Pack up your fancy gold trophies and go.

And that's just scratching the surface of this movie streaming massacre. I didn't even get to the fact that "Bull Durham" will be going, going, gone. Is it un-American to remove the greatest baseball movie ever made mere days before the Fourth of July? I nominate yes. WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA, NETFLIX?!

Anyways, here's the full list of movies and TV shows leaving Netflix next month. (And for everything coming to the streaming service in July, click here.)

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
