February is the shortest month of the year, so perhaps it's not surprising that Netflix's newly announced list of impending arrivals feels a little shorter than usual as well – especially when it comes to theatrically released movies and TVs. But that doesn't mean there aren't new gems to find while you're bunkered in on a snowy night.

When it comes to releases made outside the Big Red Streaming Monolith, I hope you like coming-of-age movies – because Netflix snagged them all. "About a Boy," the "American Pie" movies, "Billy Elliot," "Edge of Seventeen" – which is excellent and, judging by its box office totals, I know you haven't seen yet – "Pretty in Pink," and "Little Women." Oh, and "Jaws," that classic coming-of-age film. (Watch it from the shark's perspective, you'll see.)

Of course, the star of the shows en route to your living room are the Netflix Originals. There's the fittingly buzzy "Velvet Buzzsaw," a star-studded horror-thriller about art coming to life and murdering snobby gallery folks that somehow looks even more bonkers than it sounds. Joining that on Feb. 1 is "Russian Doll," the new comedy series from producer Amy Poehler, as well as "High Flying Bird," the new Steven Soderbergh drama about behind the scenes of pro basketball, a week later. Throw in a Mexico-flavored spin-off of the goofy cooking show "Nailed It!" and you've got plenty of excuses to stay in and avoid all those annoying couples on Valentine's Day.

Here's the full list of everything headed to Netflix in the month of February.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
