Tis the season for giving – and while the Big Red Streaming Monolith will pull a Grinch-esque move and steal some movies and shows away next month, it'll also gift audiences some new additions according its list of fresh arrivals for December.

For those high on the holidays, there are several new Christmas movies and specials plus a bonus season of the "Great British Baking Show" holiday spin-off. But it's not just the holiday season: It's also award season, and some of Netflix's biggest Oscar plays – frontrunner "The Power of the Dog," the star-studded "Don't Look Up," "The Lost Daughter" and "The Hand of God" – will all make their debuts in December. And as for older Oscar favorites, the very different "Chocolat" and "Closer" are booked to appear on the Big Red Streaming Monolith as well.

For some of Hollywood's better blockbusters in recent decades, Netflix will snag "Mask of Zorro" as well as the stellar sci-fi time paradox duo of "Looper" and "Minority Report." And for those who just love movies, period, the cinema essay series "Voir" – produced by the great David Fincher – will roll film in December as well.

Add in new seasons of some of Netflix's biggest shows – including another round of "Emily in Paris," "Queer Eye," "Cobra Kai" and "The Witcher" – and it's safe to say that your streaming queues will be as full as hopefully your stockings this upcoming month. Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
