There's something so simplisticly beautiful about getting a kite up in the air. For hundreds of kite enthusiasts this weekend, they'll be able to experience that simple joy together.
The Outta Sight Kite Flight, hosted by Gift of Wings and the City of Kenosha, will return to Kennedy Park, with over 400 kites taking to the skies.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and a massive launch of more than 400 kites will take place each day at noon. In addition to that, the event features professional kite flyers, and for the 16th year, the Fire & Ice precision kite flying team will perform three times daily. The group is a world-renowned team comprised of kite flyers from the Illinois and Southern Wisconsin area.
Also back this year is the Gift of Wings Dream Team, showcasing two Super Giant Whale kites. Kenosha’s own Jake Peters will fly his giant kite collection all weekend. Milwaukee’s Paul Koepke, a professional kite flyer, will also perform. New for 2025, though, are a 120-foot Trilobite kite and the IKEA Shark Kite, which is exclusive to this event.
Another new addition is Jim Alma from Vancouver, who will attempt to fly three stunt kites at once to music. The Flying Emus will also make their festival debut with their four-line stunt kites. Amy and Connie Doran, who appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” will be performing throughout the weekend as well.
Of course, you can join in the fun too. Kites and food will be available for purchase. There's also the Leaf Guard “Kids Mad Dash," which will offer free kites to the first 100 kids who participate. Think you can get a kite in the air faster than your friends?
The event is free to attend, and you can find free street parking west of Kennedy Park.
