One of the biggest sports entertainment hotspots in the entire state just got even bigger – MUCH bigger, in fact, as Potawatomi Casino Hotel officially threw out the first pitch/dropped the puck/tipped off/whatever sports metaphor you prefer at its gigantic permanent Potawatomi Sportsbook.
Found in the former Northern Lights Theater locale on the first floor, the new Potawatomi Sportsbook doesn't just feel like a different space; it feels like a different city, bringing a flashy and grandiose sports-betting hub befitting of Vegas to Milwaukee. The new setting seats more than 200 fans across 6,500 square feet and two floors, filled with a plethora of TV screens, updated video sports tickers crawling around the edge of the main hall, a long bar seating area, food and drink options, and – of course – more than 20 sports betting kiosks to plug in your wagers on the night's games, bringing Potawatomi's kiosk total to more than 70 found throughout the property.
Somehow even more so than the gambling kiosks, the real star of the new Sportsbook space is its centerpiece TV screen: a seamless LED video wall spanning across more than 2,000 square feet, able to show more than 30 different events on screen at the same time. No matter where you're sitting in the space, it's pretty much impossible to miss the wall of screens or anything happening during the games showcased on them. It's a frankly hilarious amount of sports action, all found on one wall.
If you're craving something besides sports at the Sportsbook, the new space will serve up a menu of sports bar classics – including wings, burgers, sandwiches, fries and other appetizers, and desserts – and locally-inspired tailgate-approved favorites, such as the John Kuhn Dog, named after the popular former Packers fullback and current radio host, topping a half-pound hot dog with bison chili, cheddar cheese, kimchi, jalapenos and onions. The Potawatomi Sportsbook will also serve all-day brunch with day-starting specialties like pancakes, steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, and more.
And to help wash all that – or maybe just a bad beat – down, the Sportsbook's bar will pour 48 beers on tap along with a menu of 14 specialty cocktails, featuring a Pimm's Cup, Old Fashioneds in both bacon and elderflower varietals, and an Azalea, a Masters favorite normally made with vodka, lemonade and grenadine.
That's all just the first floor of the Potawatomi Sportsbook, as there's also a second floor in the space, holding more seating, more screens (in case somehow the giant wall isn't enough), another bar area and a pro-level broadcast booth for radio, TV, podcast and other media use. During Friday's grand opening event, for instance, 94.5 ESPN Milwaukee was broadcasting its radio shows live from the new booth area.
Now open to the public, the Potawatomi Sportsbook will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. until midnight, Saturdays from 9 a.m. until midnight and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. For restaurant, bar and food hours, visit Potawatomi's website.
Somehow that's not all for Potawatomi today, as the hotel and casino also opened its brand new poker room and high limit room to the public. Making its return to Potawatomi after four years away, the new poker room is found just to the right of the Sportsbook, featuring 14 tables with one more still to come open from 8 a.m. until 4 a.m. every day. For information on the house rules and specific games offered, click here. As for the high limit room, the new space – found to the left of the Sportsbook – offers 70 slot games of multiple varieties, themes and denominations beyond the standard options available on the casino floor.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
