Going to the Milwaukee Pride Parade on Sunday? The OnMilwaukee Love Bus will be there with staffers and friends (lightly) tossing Van Holten’s Pickle-In-A-Pouch into the crowd.
Wait, what?
It's true: The OnMilwaukee Love Bus, a vintage VW Bus decked out in rainbows and inflatable pickles, will join the parade and members of the OnMilwaukee staff will give out Van Holten’s "Hot Mama" and "Big Papa" pickles in a pouch to parade goers who yell "Pickle me, OnMilwaukee!" (Ahem.)
"We are happy to donate 20 cases of Hot Mamas and Big Papas for the parade," says Van Holten’s president, Steve Byrnes.
Step-off is 2 p.m. and the route is about a mile north on Second Street, from Scott Street to Seeboth Street in Walker's Point.
The theme of the parade this year, “Remember, Resist, Rejoice,” reflects the importance of honoring the LGBTQ+ community’s history, standing against ongoing challenges, and celebrating resilience and joy.
Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment remains a top priority. In response to concerns about safety, the Pride Parade Board is implementing enhanced security measures, including the hiring of a third-party security team, a coordinated police presence, and public safety communications before and during the parade.
"We hear from a lot of people that the Milwaukee Pride Parade is one of their favorite events of the year. Attendees love the spectacle of the colorful floats, amazing costumes, glitter and music," says parade board member Wyatt Tinder.
Sparkle up and get to Second Street, Milwaukee, for fun, frolic and free pickles!
