The Sherman Phoenix, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave., announced today that they will be welcoming a brand new tenant for the former Shindig coffeehouse space.
Rise & Grind Cafe, the breakfast and brunch restaurant owned by Larina Hightower and Baboonie Tatum, is holding its soft opening today, June 16 until 3 p.m.
The cafe, which opened in 2017, offers a breakfast and lunch menu along with a full coffee menu and both fruit-based and green smoothies.
Rise & Grind Cafe will also continue to serve customers at their location at 2737 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.
Current hours for Sherman Phoenix are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lori is the author of two books: the "Wisconsin Field to Fork" cookbook and "Milwaukee Food". Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club. In 2024, Lori was honored with a "Top 20 Women in Hospitality to Watch" award by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or planning for TV and radio spots, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
