It’s been about a year and a half since The Ruby Tap owners Brooke Boomer and Sarah (Smith) Nelson announced that they’d be opening a second location at the Mequon Town Center, located at 6000 W. Mequon Rd.
And today the self-service wine bar opens its doors to the public at 3 p.m.
Ruby Tap Mequon will offer up 32 types of self-serve wines, along with eight tap wines, two types of beer and a draft cocktail (currently the Bee's Knees, featuring gin, raspberry, lemon and honey).
An expanded kitchen will allow them to serve up a more robust collection of nibbles, including charcuterie, cheeses, flatbreads and snacks like truffle popcorn, almonds and olives or chocolate and caramel plates.
The wine bar itself pulls familiar elements from the Ruby Tap’s Wauwatosa location, including rich wall colorings, reclaimed wood accents, lounge seating and large windows which can be opened during warmer months for an open-air experience.
The Mequon location also sports a larger interior with 500 additional square feet of space, some of which will be available for rent for private parties and gatherings.
Specials will include sparkling wines and pop corn from 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, $1 off full glasses on tap on Tuesdays, 25 percent off wine pours from wine machines on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., no corkage fees on Thursdays, $5 off wine carafes on Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m., and $3 mimosas on Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
Ruby Tap in Mequon is open Monday through Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m., Friday from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m.
