After a month of closings, cancellations and postponements, here's something refreshing to report: a festival concert announcement. Country star Sam Hunt announced his rescheduled summer tour on social media, complete with a new headliner date at Summerfest: Friday, Sept. 4.
Hunt is the first prior Big Gig headliner to officially confirm his return to the festival lineup, complete with a concert date. The "Body Like a Back Road" pop country singer was originally set to headline the Big Gig on June 26, but with the entire country social distancing to contain the spread of the coronavirus, Summerfest moved the entire festival from June and July to three weekends in September, putting its mostly confirmed American Family Insurance Amphitheater lineup in question.
June dates on Sam’s SOUTHSIDE Summer Tour 2020 have been rescheduled out of an abundance of caution for fans, crew and venue staff. All tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. For any further ticketing questions please reach out to your point of purchase. pic.twitter.com/7FMLCTf09C — Sam Hunt (@SamHuntMusic) April 13, 2020
Those who already purchased tickets for the original Sam Hunt show are asked to hold onto their tickets as they will be honored for this newly rescheduled Big Gig concert date. Refunds, however, will be available from the original point of purchase (though, due to the state's current "Safer At Home" order, the in-person Summerfest box office is closed until further notice).
For more information and updates on the rest of Summerfest's rescheduled lineup, as well as other closings and (hopefully) re-openings, stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
