After a memorable opening day, Summerfest kept the energy rolling yesterday with an eclectic mix of performances across Milwaukee’s lakefront. Day 2 brought sunshine, surprises, and sets that spanned multiple generations and genres, because that’s just how Summerfest rolls. From 80s throwbacks and alt-rock storytellers to viral hits and high-energy moments, Friday's lineup gave us all the reasons to keep dancing. Whether you came early for some nostalgic hits or stayed late to rage to “Cooler Than Me”, there was something for everyone. Check out our favorite moments from Day 2 of Summerfest.
Mike Posner
Closing out the US Cellular stage, Mike Posner brought hit after hit and even a surprise guest, Brody Jenner (yes, that Brody Jenner). The two teamed up for a wild set that ended with an electric one-two punch of “Cooler Than Me” and “I Took A Pill in Ibiza”. Posner proved he still knows how to throw a party and Milwaukee showed up for it. Read more about the show here.
Rick Springfield
It’s not Summerfest without a little Rick Springfield. A festival favorite, Rick returned to the Uline stage and brought the crowd back in time with Jessie’s Girl and more. And in true Springfield fashion, he tossed roses into the crowd all night long. It was chaotic, charming, and just the right kind of dramatic.
John Butler
The Miller Lite Oasis was transformed into a jam session of soul and strings when John Butler took the stage. Known for his intricate guitar work and earthy energy, Butler’s set was a blend of folk, roots, and raw emotion, a perfect fit for a sunset show on the lakefront.
Hoodie Allen
Over on the US Cellular Connection Stage, Hoodie Allen fulfilled a longtime dream: performing at Summerfest. He hyped the crowd, dropped fan-favorite tracks, and showed love for Milwaukee like a true pro. Hoodie’s always been a crowd-pleaser and this set was no exception.
Gigi Perez
One of the freshest faces on the lineup, Gigi Perez opened the American Family Insurance Amphitheater before Hozier's headlining set and completely delivered. With rich vocals and a vulnerable presence, she proved exactly why she’s one of the most exciting emerging voices in alt-pop right now.
Wang Chung
Yes, we did Wang Chung tonight (or afternoon technically). The Uline Warehouse stage turned into an afternoon dance party thanks to this iconic new wave duo. Their upbeat vibes and synth-pop classics had fans of all ages moving and let’s be honest, we all sang “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” like we meant it. Read more about the show here.
