It’s a big day for Summerfest fans, with not only one new BMO Pavilion headliner announced, but five ground stage headliners have been revealed ahead of the full lineup release, which will likely happen next spring.
If you hadn’t heard, Summerfest is partnering with several organizations for next year’s festival for their inaugural Juneteenth celebration on the festival’s opening night. This will not replace or relocate the traditional Juneteenth Day parade and festival on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.
After the festivities elsewhere have concluded, Summerfest and Northcott Neighborhood House will host an evening of music and culture on June 19th. The lineup for the night will feature performances by Gary Clark Jr., Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Ginuwine, Joy Oladokun, and Mike Jones, with more artists to be announced after the start of the new year. Stage assignments for the new headliners have not been announced.
A special opening ceremony will kick off the evening’s programming. The ceremony will include performances, remarks from community representatives, and recognition of scholarship recipients named Mr. Juneteenth and Ms. Juneteenth.
We now know a total of 15 acts that are headed to Summerfest 2025, and there’s certainly much more news on the way regarding the festival’s lineup. Be sure to follow OnMilwaukee for more announcements as they come in.
