As many feared Summerfest will not take place in June but will be staged instead over three weekends in September.

The Big Gig is slated for Sept. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18, organizers announced Tuesday morning.

“While the progress made through the vaccine rollout is encouraging, we believe it is in the public’s best interest to hold the festival in September to give government leaders and healthcare organizations enough time to distribute the vaccine,” said Don Smiley, President & Chief Executive Officer of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc.

“We will continue to work diligently with civic officials and healthcare professionals as we prepare to welcome artists, fans, employees, vendors and sponsorship partners this summer.  Our team is excited to get back to what we do best, as soon as possible.”

Here is the original lineup for 2021 as announced last autumn. Recently, Halsey canceled her entire tour.

Summerfest booking staff is working to reschedule American Family Insurance Amphitheater concerts and expects to be able to provide updated concert information in coming weeks.

Fans are expected to get their first chance to experience the new American Family Insurance Amphitheater at the next Summerfest, which is finally getting free wi-fi.

The next Big Gig will also mark the debut of Generac as a grounds stage sponsor.

General admission tickets for Summerfest 2020 and 2021 may be used during the new September dates. Refunds for tickets purchased via Summerfest.com or Ticketmaster are available, with more information here.
