The Packers may have (*wipes tear*) yet again fallen short of the Super Bowl after a promising regular season – but there's still plenty of reasons to get pumped for the big game on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Rams are a fun team, with quarterback Matthew Stafford's escape from the purgatory that is Detroit Lions football providing a pleasant storyline. And on the other sideline, somehow the Cincinnati Bengals are here – and are delightful, with a cool up-and-coming quarterback at the helm and years of legendary ineptitude now behind them. And in case two good teams with two great helmets sparring on the field isn't enough of a draw, there's always the ads.

Most importantly, though, several bars throughout Milwaukee are going big for the big game, offering sweet deals, tasty drinks and even a chance to have a Super Bowl victory of your own off the field. So whether you're watching for the game, for the ads or for background noise while you cry into your beer thinking what could've been for the Packers, here are seventeen spots worth a stop for the Super Bowl.

1. Steny's

800 S. 2nd St., (414) 672-7139
stenystavern.com

This Milwaukee establishment is one of the most famous, premier sports bars in the city – so what better place to watch the most famous, premier sporting event of the year? Steny's will have a super time for the Super Bowl, with raffles during both halftime and the end of the game – prizes include free pizza for a year or your height in Bud Light – along with specials like $10 crab rangoon dip, $2 off Bud Light pitchers and six-for-$20 Bud family buckets. It's a premium place to watch the NFL's premium matchup.

2. Explorium Brewpub

5300 S. 76th St. and 143 W. Saint Paul Ave., (414) 423-1365
exploriumbrew.com

Venture your way over to either of Explorium's two locations – in Southridge Mall in Greendale and in the Pritzlaff Building in the Third Ward – for the Super Bowl this weekend. The local craft brewer has lots of fun brewing up for the big game, including touchdown shots for your team of choice as well as food, drink and shot specials throughout the festivities. No matter which venue you end up at – and no matter who wins – you're bound to have a good time.

3. Leff's Lucky Town

7208 W. State St., (414) 258-9886
leffs.com
[Read more]

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Super Bowl's all cool and important and stuff – but the main event at Leff's Lucky Town is the Super Wing Bowl, which features half-price wings throughout the game topped with the Brew city favorite's regular sauces along with its five top-selling weekly flavors and five flavors selected by social media. And in case wings weren't somehow enough of a win, Leff's will bust out the prize wheel during the game plus $15 buckets of Miller High Life and $20 buckets of Vizzy. With all that, if you end up at Leff's for the big game, you're very lucky indeed.

4. Milwaukee Brat House

1013 N. Doctor M.L.K. Jr Dr., (414) 273-8709
milwaukeebrathouse.com
[Read more]

With two locations – one Downtown and one in Shorewood – Milwaukee Brat House will double your Super Bowl fun, not to mention double your chance at being victorious yourself. In case the bars' plethora of drink deals – featuring $4 cans of Truly, Twisted Tea and shots of Hornitos and Jim Beam, plus $6 Hornitoss and Jim Beam mixers – weren't winning enough, each special purchase earns you a raffle ticket to score tickets to Dua Lipa at Fiserv Forum, a scooter from the Downtown location or a recliner from the Shorewood spot. I'd call that a more worthwhile prize than merely some shiny football trophy thing. (Though if the Packers want to win one of those again sometime soon, I'd be fine with that too.)

5. Garfield's 502

502 W. Garfield Ave., (414) 374-4502
garfields502.com
[Read more]

No matter whether you're rooting for the Rams or the Bengals, Garfield's 502 makes an incredibile home base for the big game thanks to its One Love Super Bowl watch party. Sure, the hidden gem will have food, drink and music for the big game – as well as Sunday's true featured event: the halftime show – but the real draw is the good vibes inside this terrific Bronzeville establishment, putting the "super" into Super Bowl.

6. Matty's

14460 W. College Ave., (414) 427-3838

This bustling suburban hotspot will be at its finest for the Super Bowl, featuring a menu of specials just for the big game, $2 off both pizzas and pitchers, raffles every quarter, commercial bingo and, most importantly, TV screens all over the place so you never miss a moment – whether you're there for the game or the ads. And with its massive space – including its glorious outdoor patio – there's room for you at Matty's for the most rockin' day of the sporting year.

7. Champion's Pub

2417 N. Bartlett Ave., (414) 332-2440

If you're gonna watch the NFL crown their champion of the past season, you might as well stay in theme and go to a place with "champion" right there in the name. And this hidden gem has quite a winning game plan for the big game, going all in on Joe Cool and bringing some Cincy to Brew City with tasty beers from Cincinnati's Rhinegeist Brewery, bowls of chili and noodles, and T-shirt giveaways throughout the day. It's bound to be a wild time ... unless you show up in a Los Angeles Rams jersey.

8. Art Bar

722 E. Burleigh St., (414) 372-7880
artbarwonderland.com
[Read more]

Is sports art? It certainly is when there's $5 pizza involved – which is exactly the case at this Riverwest favorite, where they'll serve up several varieties of their homemade hand-tossed pizza through halftime for just an Abe Lincoln bill during the big game. Wash down the country's most glorious monument to commerce on the screen by taking in some glorious indie and local art on the walls – the best of both worlds.

9. The MECCA Sports Bar & Grill

1134 Vel R. Phillips Ave., (414) 908-0401
themeccamke.com
[Read more]

The Mecca of the American sports and entertainment world meets The MECCA as the monolithic sports bar in Deer District will feature the big game on all of its TV screens – including its 38-foot showcase screen that's even more jaw-dropping than the Bengals being in the Super Bowl. And in case that's not special enough, the Deer District bar will have plenty of food and drink specials, including themed Long Islands – orange for Cincy, blue for L.A. – $4 Dr. Mcgillicuddy's and Fireball shots, $25 buckets of Miller and Coors beers, $8 Casamigos palomas, a Bucks ticket raffle at halftime and a DJ keeping things lively even during the most deathly unfunny Super Bowl ads. It's a giant bar with giant plans worthy of a giant game.

And while the Packers fell short of the Super Bowl this year (sorry to bring up a sorry subject), you can still rep the Super Bowl champion of our hearts by winning the market hall's Green Bay jersey giveaway. A new spot that'll feel like home for the big game.

12. SportClub

If it's got sport right there in the name, it has to be good for the Super Bowl – and indeed, this Downtown sports haven will be a blast for the big game, serving up the game across 20 HD television screens as well as serving up half-off wings, $6 brats, $8 pizzas and $10 buckets of Miller Lite, High Life, Coors Light and PBR. With deals like that and a vibe this enthusiastic, no matter who you're rooting for during the game, you'll be a Super Bowl winner at SportClub.

13. Who's on Third

It may be named after a baseball punchline, but Who's on Third will be all football on Sunday – and it takes its Super Bowl shenanigans seriously. In addition to a full slate of super specials – inclulding $3 Millers, $4 Jamo shots, and $7 Jameson and Absolut mixers – and the game on all screens, the hotspot will also find winners off the field with commercial bingo during the ad breaks. And if Who's on Third gets packed up before the first quarter even kicks off ...

14. Oak Barrel

... make your way down the block to Oak Barrel, Who's on Third's sister establishment and fellow Super Bowl super hangout. The warm-as-whiskey bar will also feature a number of thirst-quenching specials, including $3 Coors and Jack Apple shots, $4 cans of Vizzy, $3 Bengals and Rams bombs, and – just like down the street – commercial bingo to make the ad breaks even more entertainment. It may be on the former Old World Third Street, but it's a first-rate Super Bowl destination.

15. High Dive

701 E. Center St., (414) 763-0729
highdivemke.com
[Read more]

The High Dive will be a high-quality spot to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday night – and certainly one of the spiciest, as the Riverwest corner tap will host A&M Organics and Goodest Girl Salsa Co. to cook up some devilishly delicious big game grub that'll deliver even more heat than Joe Burrow's fashion choices and on-field play. Toss in some tasty brews and a lively atmosphere, and you've got a Super Bowl watch party worth blazing a trail to.

16. Brothers Bar & Grill

1213 N. Water St., (414) 224-1690

Drink in the big game – quite literally – at the impressively remodeled Brothers on Water Street as, in addition to its usual lineup of tasty taps and bar eats, the hangout will serve up 32-ounce pitchers of two special themed drinks: blue Rams Rush and orange Cincy crush. Add in the second-floor arcade and you've got a Super Bowl spot that doesn't just leave the play for the guys on the field out in Los Angeles.

17. Third Street Tavern

Third Street Tavern is a first down (because football!) when it comes to Super Bowl fun, featuring a number of specials and shenanigans befitting the biggest game of the year. Not only will the bar serve up $3 bombs themed around the Bengals and Rams as well as $4 select White Claws, but Third Street Tavern will also pour touchdown shots when your chosen team gets into the endzone. Plus there's commercial bingo, helping make even the worst terribly unfunny but star-studded ads significantly better.

Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
