T-Pain may want to put you in a mansion in Wiscansin, but it'll likely be nowhere near West Allis any time soon.
Earlier this year, the singer and his team announced the fourth edition of Wiscansin Fest, his now annual music festival at The Rave. In addition to a lineup featuring T-Pain, Pusha T, Wale, and many more, this year's festival would also have a separate event on Friday June 13th, featuring his Nappy Boy Automotive team in a drifting exhibition called Wiscansin State Fear to be held at The Milwaukee Mile race track. On Thursday night, he revealed that would no longer be the location for the event.
According to a lengthy two-part video that T-Pain released on Instagram on Thursday, the singer alleges that Wisconsin State Fair Park officials had concerns over the name being too similar to "Wisconsin State Fair" and potential crowd control issues with the event, ultimately pulling the plug after it had already been announced. At the very end of the second part, he revealed that contracts have been signed for the drifting event to move to Road America in Plymouth. Wiscansin Fest will still take place at The Eagles Ballroom on Saturday, June 14th.
Graphics have been updated to reflect the new location of the event, and it appears that it will retain the name "Wiscansin State Fear." On Friday, Wisconsin State Fair released an official statement via The Milwaukee Mile on social media:
“We take responsibility and apologize for the way this was handled. There were missteps in internal communications that are not representative of the standard at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
We were overly ambitious about what we could host and unfortunately, these missteps led to this event not coming to fruition. We are taking steps to ensure a more complete event review process is in place.”
This story is still developing, but it seems likely that more details of the Road America event will be coming soon. You can find out more and Wiscansin Fest at The Rave website.
