Yet another Milwaukee event that won't let the global pandemic shut it down. Instead, the Milwaukee Women’s Entrepreneurship Week (WEW) will virtually return November 11-20, 2020 after an extremely successful first event in 2019 that hosted nearly 3,000 women. 

Women’s Entrepreneurship Week (WEW) offers female-led events, panels, discussions and virtual networking opportunities. The mission of the week is to help women business owners connect, learn and grow their initiatives. 

“This year, Women's Entrepreneurship Week will give women every tool they need to start or grow a business and develop themselves professionally," said Jackie Hermes, co-founder of WEW. 

The event also gives companies the opportunity to support women-owned business. "We think this event is spot on for this time and place in the continued evolution of our diverse workforce in Southeastern Wisconsin,” said Terry Rowinski, CEO of Health Payment Systems, one of the event sponsors. “Women’s Entrepreneurship Week aligns directly with our core values: taking care of our fellow humans and developing diverse talent to lead the next generation.” 

WEW was originally scheduled as in-person sessions to take place in May of 2020. Covid, of course, changed the date and direction of the event.

"The pandemic made us rethink how we were doing everything," says Hermes. "But there have definitely been some silver linings. With no limits on the number of attendees, these events offer the support that small businesses need as they navigate this changing landscape. And I've met hundreds of women that I never would have met during this pandemic from all over the country. We have a larger reach and a growing national audience to spotlight the kick-ass women professionals from Milwaukee."
