After Christmas, most of the country tends to think that winter is over – but any native Milwaukeean knows that’s not remotely close true. But just because it's chilly outside doesn't mean you need to be stuck indoors. To help make your winter more wonderful, we’re providing you with 15 snowy slopes close to Milwaukee – or at least relatively close – that will get you in the winter spirit and down the slopes in style.

Ski Sunburst
8355 Prospect Dr.,
Kewaskum
Ski Sunburst is only a short 30-minute drive from Milwaukee, offering snowboarding and skiing lessons. For the not-so-extreme, Ski Sunburst also has the world’s largest tubing park for miles of inflatable fun.

Rock Snow Park
7011 S. Ballpark Dr.,

According to locals, Little Switzerland is the ultimate destination for beginners. With 18 trails, three terrain parks and a $39 special on Tuesdays that includes a free beginner lesson, Little Switzerland has something for riders of all levels.

Granite Peak

Mt. La Crosse Ski Resort
Old Town Hall Road,
La Crosse
For over 60 years, Mt. La Crosse has been providing Wisconsin skiers with thrills and chills. Now with Wisconsin’s longest run and mid-America’s steepest trail, Mt. La Crosse is a skiing and snowboarding must-visit for your winter bucket list.

W2501 County Rd. D,
Elkhorn
Alpine Valley has several high-speed chairlifts and over 90 skiable acres for hours of fun. Locals say it’s one of the best spots for beginners.

Devil’s Head Resort
S6330 Bluff Rd.,
Merrimac
Rumor has it that Devil’s Head is one of the more challenging mountains here in Wisconsin. Skeptical? It's certainly got the diabolical name for it – but head there to find out for yourself!

Christmas Mountain
S944 Christmas Mountain Rd.,
Wisconsin Dells
Wisconsin Dells isn’t just for summertime water park fun. Bob through the trees on 15 different downhill runs – and if you’re feeling brave, try out the three terrain parks for extra adventure.

Bruce
Christie Mountain has 20 trails and two cliff jumps that will fill any skier’s icy heart with glee.
