A fresh take on German cuisine is now available at the Wisconsin State Fair.
WurstBar is a great fit for Brady Street – the Berlin Street food-focused restaurant opened there in 2020 – and now it’s making a name for itself at the Wisconsin State Fair.
WurstBar is located in the former Water Street Brewery space, next to the Big Slide.
CampBar, which is next door, is also new to the Fair this year and similar to WurstBar in that it has numerous permanent locations in Metro Milwaukee.
Wurst’s food offerings include items from the Brady Street menu, including the Jalapeño Popper Bratwurst and Schnitzel tenders along with available-only-at-the-Fair Fish Fry Bombs.
“All of our food items are new to the fair but it seems people have really gravitated towards our Fish Fry Bombs, Jalapeno Popper Brat and of course, cheese curds,” says Marketing manager Emily Ho-Abegglen.
Fish Fry Bombs combine an entire fish fry plate into one ball of deliciousness: Atlantic cod, coleslaw and fries all drizzled with lemon vinaigrette and a side of homemade tartar sauce.
Wurst’s beverage selection is solid, too, with German taps from Hofbrau served in German glassware that doubles as a souvenir.
Wurst Bar is owned by Scott Schaefer, Andrew Frank and Darryl Towers, who aside from the Brady Street restaurant and State Fair joint own Milwaukee Brat House (Downtown and Shorewood) and Jack’s American Pub also on Brady Street.
Live music is also a big part of the WurstBar experience.
“Feedback so far has been positive. People have really been enjoying the artists we have selected for the 2022 fair season and the unique food items,” says Ho-Abegglen.
