The Yellow Phone Music Conference, a four-day conference of artists and music professionals, received a $30,000 Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to help with promotion of the event.

"Receiving a JEM grant is another validation of Yellow Phone’s exclusive position as the most accessible music conference in the country, making it an absolute destination for musicians and industry professionals," said Doug Johnson, partner with Pursuit Live, who produces the conference.

"This support from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism further enhances our ability to put Milwaukee on the map as the music capital of the Midwest."

The 2014 Yellow Phone Music Conference will be held Sept. 5-8.

Last September, Johnson told OnMilwaukee.com that the event is the first of its kind to provide local musicians with access to the variety of industry networking they deserve.

"(At Yellow Phone) you can walk up to the promoter of Warped Tour and ask him questions. You can have access to a music attorney who represents the likes of Hall and Oates and Michelle Branch and talk to them," he said.
