This past Friday night, it looked like the Milwaukee Brewers might be headed to extra innings against the New York Mets. With a poke from Jeff McNeil into the outfield, it looked like Starling Marte would come across to score in the top of the 9th inning, down 3-2. However, Brewers outfielder Blake Perkins had other plans.
Perkins unleashed a laser beam of a throw to the plate, where William Contreras tagged out Marte to end the game. It’s the kind of ending that would send Cubs fan and baseball TikToker Bree Delio into a tailspin. And it did:

While we could watch that on replay (and maybe I did, so what?) Delio’s rant at the end of the game touched on the lore of the 2025 Milwaukee Brewers; one complete with pocket pancakes, The Miz, and the “Power of Friendship.” If you feel out of the loop, you’re not alone. Let’s break them down:
“The Power of Friendship”
The trope of the “power of friendship” is actually harder to nail down than you’d think. It could go back to “My Little Pony,”, or perhaps a viral TikTok sound that originated in 2021 from streamer CJ Ughamba. In the case of the Brewers, though, it caught on after closer Trevor Megill said it in an interview with USA Today.
“The way the Brewers run themselves and the research they do on people, personalities -- that goes into a lot of what we’re seeing right now. Power of friendship, right?”
That’s all the Crew needed. Megill later joked that the team would start wearing “Power of Friendship” shirts, which they eventually wore on Friday, and low and behold, Perkins mowed down Marte at home to get the win. The power of friggin’ friendship, indeed.
The Miz
No, not the WWE wrestler of the same name, but most outings from Brewers’ first-year pitcher Jacob Misiorowski have been, well, awesome. The 23-year-old phenom is currently 4-1 on the season, with a 2.70 ERA. That average is also skewed by giving up five runs in his only loss, a 7-3 defeat to the Mets on July 2nd. In fact, that one game accounts for half of the runs that The Miz has given up all season, with just 10 earned runs against in seven outings. While he’s on the 15-day DL with a shin bruise, he’s expected to return on Wednesday afternoon against the Pirates.
Misiorowski also withstood a toe-to-toe showdown with Pirates ace Paul Skenes this year, in what became a must-see pitching matchup at American Family Field. The red-hot pitcher earned himself a place on the 2025 All-Star team, as well as his own t-shirt giveaway slated for this past Sunday. Due to the amount of fans that couldn’t get their Miz shirts from the immense rain that hit Milwaukee this past weekend, the Brewers also announced a second Miz t-shirt night on September 16th, when Milwaukee takes on the Los Angeles Dodgers at home.
Pocket Pancakes
Then, of course, we have those Pocket Pancakes. This started when manager Pat Murphy was interviewed by Apple TV reporter Tricia Whitaker during the Brewers’ 16-9 win over the Washington Nationals on August 1st. Murphy revealed that he keeps food in his pocket during some games, including the now infamous Pocket Pancake. Did he eat it on national TV? Of course he did. Did Whitaker also grab a bite for herself? Why of course. The rest is internet history.

Murphy later revealed that he’s been eating pocket food, including pancakes, since about 2017. You know what they say: there’s no cleanliness in baseball (or was it crying? I dunno, something like that.) After the viral moment, the Brewers organization got on board, recently announcing that they’ll be selling “Murph’s Pocket Pancakes” at American Family Field during Sunday home games this season. Maybe someone should have gotten him a subscription to the Brewers’ Hot Dog Club, instead. (Or some free burgers, but we won’t jinx it.)
Whether it be new mottos, a stunning pitcher, or pocket snacks, it’s all working for the Brewers right now, as they sit at the top of the NL Central. The team is also the fastest Brewers club to reach 30 games over .500 in franchise history. Oh, and as for Delio? She’ll keep crashing out at the Brewers’ wins, as she did at American Family Field on Saturday night:
