The Brewers' Christian Yelich has tested positive for COVID-19, with mild symptoms, requiring the outfielder to sit a minimum of ten days on the injured list (IL). Outfielder Jace Peterson will also miss a minimum of seven days on the IL due to contract tracing protocols.

The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon by Brewers GM David Stearns.

"The most important thing is for him to feel better," Stearns told JSOnline on Tuesday. "He has mild symptoms. I talked to him this morning. He’s in good spirits. He’s resting, and it’s certainly our hope that he can knock this out quickly and feel better quickly."

Yelich was completely vaccinated earlier this year, even taking part in the Brewers' public service announcement for vaccinations released in April alongside Brett Suter, Keston Hiura and Freddy Peralta. However, breakthrough cases can happen with COVID-19 – especially with the current spread of the delta variant – and it does not mean the vaccines are ineffective, nor that you shouldn't get vaccinated. Vaccination makes it harder to get the virus and makes the virus far less severe or deadly if contracted. As of current writing, according to Stearns, the Brewers' game tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park is still scheduled as planned. As for replacing Yelich and Peterson for the time being, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports the team will take Lorenzo Cain off the IL starting tonight in addition to recalling Pablo Reyes from the AAA Nashville Sounds.

The Brewers are currently in first place in the NL Central, with a seven-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds, and have the third best record in the entire National League through 100 games.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
